I have to agree that it can be immersion breaking, and is a lot bigger than expected.

That's pretty bad design.. why doesn't it just autosave during sleeping? You could get rid of 2 problems that way..

Because not everyone sleeps. In 650 hours i probably slept like.. 5 times.
It's even more of a hassle on a dedicated server with multiple people playing.

What would actually be cool tho would be if they reduced/removed the ultra lag when saving. No warning needed XD

Yeah they really should just integrate it into the old icon. Show the save icon with a timer that counts down from 30... simple.

Wait, so a dedicated server gives you warning a world save is incoming?

LOL. How many topics is there complaining about the lag on single player world saves without a warning?

I believe the whole point for them adding the timer is to provide a warning, as the save creates a lag spike.

Ppl were complaining that too many saves were happening mid-battle.

So now we have a warning. Lets not complain about the font.

Asynchronous saving FTW.. I don't know enough about Unity but I imagine the issue is with saving the player's current cell? Hypothetically what if you first saved all the non-player cells, then once the player leaves their current cell save that too and write file?

Or you could have an asynchronous file manager which saves cells as the player leaves them? Or save clones of objects so not to disrupt gameplay? I'd be interested to know what the technical issues are, this is the first game I've played where I've seen this..

I like the idea of doing it right after the "day xxx" notification in the morning. Then you have a warning that the save is coming that doesn't break immersion and you would be less likely to be in a precarious situation, at least if you are sleeping. Even if not, you know what to expect in the mornings.

yea that's the best idea so far imo, doesn't impede anything.

I seriously hate it. I just want the option to toggle the alert on and off. Simple fix. Everyone gets what they want.

Why do so many people just assume its the same people if it fits their argument?

The solution to this problem is easy - make it an option in the menu - problem solved (it is kind of immersion breaking).

Another idea:
The World-Saves probably have some timer - why not add a button for players to force a world save when it doesnt interfere with their game resetting the world-save-timer? So players could simply force a worldsave before a battle or when they are just building - probably 99% of problems with lagspikes solved ...

I already suggested before the devs added the "World save in 30" that people wouldn't like it and delaying saving if enemies are near would be a better idea. That's still my suggestion, as most of the problem came from a surprise save during combat. Code is already there to detect if enemies are near, the beds use it. Could also add to that, make it so the player needs to be not moving for it to save. Then it would cover combat and jumping around dangerous areas.
