I would say there are many reasons ranging from willful ignorance to language barriers with dozens of other possibilities in between.

A friend of mine calls the Lox "Lizard buffalo" and the Fulings he calls "green turds."
When asked why, he says "that's what they look like to me."

In any case sometimes it's funny "furlings" and sometimes it's just annoying "thinger."

Best to ignore the minor mistakes and only question what doesn't make sense.
